Photography Tips
GREAT GREY OWL, ALBERTA, CANADA
I was recently in Albera, Canada visiting a good friend. A mere 10 minutes from where he lives, there were a couple of great grey owls with a nest close to a farmer's field. We went there on several mornings to locate the owls. And we did find them. I sat down in the grass on the opposite side the field and waited. The owl depicted here flew towards me on several occasions as it hunted. No bait or calls were used to get the shot. TIP Ok, so this may be more of a controversial comment but here it goes. I typically don't use bait to get images. I say typically only because I've photographed hummingbirds at a feeder before. But I'm not a big believer in using bait. And that's for several reasons that I won't get into here. Suffice it to say that, by using bait, one can often repeat a scene or an event over and over again to get the shot. And to me, that's not wildlife photography. So, here's my tip for this post: Consider using patience and anticipation in lieu of bait.

on January 2, 2015I am not a wildlife photographer, far from it. In fact I don't typically find wildlife photography that interested. What I do find interesting (and valuable) is great advice like this. Your shots are fantastic and make me want to connect with nature more. Thanks so much for sharing.
